Global Leaders Unite to Tackle Food Security and Sustainability Challenges at The 3rd Global Food Security & Sustainability 2023™ Summit

Danang, Vietnam – August 29, 2023 – The 3rd Global Food Security & Sustainability 2023™ Summit convened 15 influential leaders, representing a diverse array of stakeholders, to deliberate on the critical issues of food security and sustainability. Hosted at the Novotel Han Premier River in Danang, Vietnam, the summit drew significant attention from key figures, including policymakers, government institutions, investors, and United Nations bodies. This event was co-located and held in conjunction with The 15th annual Global CSR & ESG Summit & Awards - the world's longest-running sustainability-focused event and industry awards.

With the world grappling with mounting challenges such as climate change, population growth, and resource depletion, the imperative to establish an equitable and sustainable food system has never been more evident. This high-profile event aimed to explore strategies for enhancing climate resilience within food systems and transforming the food value chain to mitigate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risks.

The summit commenced with an opening address by Professor William Chen, Chairman of the Singapore Agrifood Innovation Lab (SAIL), who set the stage for the discussions. Subsequently, Mr. Remi Nono Womdim, the Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Viet Nam, provided a global perspective on "Averting A Global Food Crisis – What Must Be Done?"

Keynote speaker, Dr. Shoumo Mitra, R&D Director of APAC Crop Protection Discovery & Development (CORTEVA), delved into profound insights on "Agriculture's Future Driven by Sustainable Innovation," building upon the comprehensive presentation by Mr. Remi Nono Womdim.

The summit fostered new perspectives and dialogues aimed at effectively addressing the imminent challenges in food security and sustainability. The extensive knowledge and diverse skillsets of the speakers elevated the global discourse, benefiting delegates from various ASEAN countries who are confronting similar issues.
